The provision is part of recently enacted Florida property insurance reform measures, which included attempts to reduce the size of the Citizens. The insurer’s membership grew to 1.3 million policyholders after multiple insurance companies went out of business, left the state or stopped selling policies in Florida. These new entrants follow seven home insurance company insolvencies between February 2022 and February 2023. Citizens grew to 1.3 million policyholders at the end of 2022 and was the top insurer by market share in the state.

The combination of these factors has made the Florida market difficult for homeowners to find home insurance, in terms of both options and cost, said Friedlander. Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company has high Florida home insurance rates in comparison to other insurers in our analysis. Increasing costs tied to the lawsuits and fraud have caused several local insurance companies to close their doors.

If this happens, you may want to connect with a local agent for assistance. You may also need to apply for a policy with Citizens, Florida’s FAIR plan for high-risk properties. In addition to looking at how much each insurance company charges for different coverage levels and risks, you should also be aware of what your policy does and doesn’t cover.

Will my home insurance rates go up?

Three compliance reports are available on the office’s website documenting violations of state insurance regulations, primarily failure to timely submit required reports. The most recent report, released in January, document three license suspensions, two cease-and-desist orders, and 68 fines levied against insurers. Insurers are also now prohibited from canceling policies on homes with active claims. Cancellations cannot take place until 90 days after repairs are complete. Reforms enacted in 2022 and 2023 included changes to a law that enabled attorneys to collect their full legal fees if a litigated claim was settled by any amount, even $1, over their original claim offer. The spokesman said he knew that figure was what Patronis was referencing.

But insurers will now be able to take a 20% cut off services from discount providers, in a blow to the health care industry and boon for insurers. TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Ron DeSantis has approved $200 million to continue a popular home-hardening grant program that could help about 20,000 mostly low and moderate income residents cut property insurance costs. The GOP-led legislature has tightened the noose around customers in the last five years, repeatedly making it harder and harder for customers to sue their insurance carriers. They say that frivolous lawsuits against carriers have artificially inflated Florida’s insurance policy costs.

The average cost of home insurance in Florida ranges between $3,557 and $15,272 per year, depending on your level of dwelling coverage and your deductible. We do receive compensation when a sale or referral occurs from many of the insurance providers and marketing partners on our site. That may impact which products we display and where they appear on our site. But it does not influence our meticulously researched editorial content, what we write about, or any reviews or recommendations we may make.

There is a chance the company could rescind the nonrenewal if you can provide the necessary documentation. For example, if the notice was due to your home’s maintenance, you may be able to continue coverage if you prove that the necessary repairs have been completed or have a contract showing that repairs will be started soon. If you are unable to work with your existing carrier to continue coverage, it may be time to shop for a new policy. It can take a while to secure the best home insurance policy for your needs, and with so few carriers available in the state, you may struggle to find one on your own.

If fresh batteries don’t fix the issue, examine the remote for condensation, water or other evidence of dampness damage. If water entered the remote control, it could stop functioning. To better target the plans that meet your expectations, please use the different filters available to you below. Avoid having too many storage bins in your overhead racks. They’re ideal for storing infrequently used things like holiday decorations that are only used once a year.

The addition of a single or double detached garage provides parking, storage, space for a workshop and space for all the things you don't want in your house or yard! If you find a plan that almost meets your needs but needs some changes, our design team will be happy to discuss your customization options. We have designs that are standalone, as well as ones that are attached to living spaces. But the one thing they all offer is serious curb appeal and practicality. Having an extra space for a bedroom or an office detached from the main house is an easy way to ensure privacy.

🌟 The Rise of the Modern Garage with Living Quarters Design

Dive into a world where your garage isn’t just a storage unit but an embodiment of thoughtful design and practicality. Gentlemen, it’s time to embrace the allure of the dark side. In an interview with The Times, Govan emphasized that continual expansion along Wilshire Boulevard would yield diminishing returns.

modern garage design

We’re a one-stop shop for modern garage plans, from custom doors and windows to roofing and siding solutions. Create a dream garage that offers something for everyone in the family. The garage floors in this design designate the use of the area. The garage offers white tile flooring in the areas for household use, such as the washer and dryer plus the storage area.

📊 Cost Considerations for a Modern Garage with Living Quarters Design

Using organizers and floor to ceiling shelving provides the owners of this garage with ample room for their belongings and parking their vehicle. Perhaps you want to decorate the door, but you don’t celebrate Christmas. This simple winter scene offers a pine forest with snowy trees and a completely secular garage door mural wrap. Remodeling your garage space may only require a new door, or door wrap to make it look new.

The sleek gray/silver and black design is sure to dress up your garage. Perfect for the auto-enthusiasts that appreciate sleek styling. Add vinyl door hinges and windows to update the look of your older garage door with little expense. The driveway and the garage should work well together, as does this stone driveway, opening into a garage with a shiny cement floor. The shininess comes from a clear coat that cement layers add after the cement dries. Dress up your garage with a white paneled wood door like the one used on this attached garage.

The Outside of the Garage – Garage Door Designs

The second-floor plan would be great for a bright office, workout room, or additional storage. Firstly, it provides extra space for storage, hobbies, or even as a separate living area. It also enhances privacy by reducing noise and odors from vehicles or workshop activities. Detached garages can enhance curb appeal, allowing more flexibility in architectural design that complements your home. Moreover, they often come with the potential to incorporate unique features like lofts, balconies, or landscaping, expanding your property’s functionality and value.

The entrance and garage door on a single-family home can match for a uniform look that works well with any brick or siding. This red brick and aluminum sheet home works well with the matching doors. Give your garage’s appearance and functionality an overhaul with these minimalist garage ideas. If your garage is big enough, using negative space can be an effective design tool as well. A painter knows that sometimes it’s what’s not added to the canvas that makes the rest of the piece stand out and deliver a more powerful visual presentation.

That’s why we’ve created this guide to walk you through our suggestions for modern garage designs and organization tips. Use magnetic vinyl for garage doors to add accents or cover dents. Many options on Pinterest offer faux windows, hinges, or accents for the square cutouts used in some designs. There’s a lot of rustic appeal to this garage space (plan 498-3, above). On the lower level there is room for two cars as well as an additional place for storage. The second floor boasts a spacious studio space that includes skylights, a kitchenette, and a bathroom.

To complete your simplified color scheme, the designer will help you choose a Floortex™ floor coating color that blends harmoniously with the rest of the room. A new floor coating isn’t just cosmetic – it also provides high-performance protection for your garage floor. Any storage systems you choose should be highly efficient to maximize the room’s storage space. When paired with setting your garage storage systems up in the right places, this goal is easily achievable. Part of creating a minimalist garage look is to use storage systems that look attractive, yet don’t call attention to themselves. They need to blend well with the rest of the room’s décor, too.

Because a man’s garage, after all, is an extension of his legacy. Both institutions will decide what exhibitions will travel to Las Vegas in a process expected to unfold organically as the collaboration develops, Govan and Harmon say. Because the museums are relatively close in proximity, Govan hopes the shows can travel in electric vehicles to reduce the carbon footprint of the exchange. Govan and Wynn Resorts co-founder Elaine Wynn sit on both the Vegas museum and LACMA boards. Govan does not expect any conflicts of interest to arise, and points out that many arts leaders occupy multiple board seats across the city and the country. LACMA’s collection will be loaned to a new Las Vegas art museum.

Your garage designer can help you envision what your finished minimalist garage design will look like. During the makeover process, 3D models are created with CAD (computer-aided design) to ensure everything is precisely designed. As has been the case throughout our history, The Garlinghouse Company today offers home designs in every style, type, size, and price range. We promise great service, solid and seasoned technical assistance, tremendous choice, and the best value in new home designs available anywhere.

Envision a detached garage adorned with natural stone and brick accents, exuding an old-world charm in today’s modern landscape. LACMA might be a de facto museum of contemporary art, but frankly it’s not a very good one. Here’s another option for dressing up your garage door during winter. These cute snowman in a winter scene of snow covers the entire door. There are no shipping fees if you buy one of our 2 plan packages "PDF file format" or "5 sets of blueprints + PDF". Shipping charges may apply if you buy additional sets of blueprints.

A professional repair technician can determine the source of the failure. Typical causes include a drive failure or improper settings. If your automated garage door uses a remote control that provides error codes, check yours and provide the error code to the technician.

I crave ferociously to hole up in one of the 'medium size' rooms - in truth more capacious than an average British flat - during a harsh Chicago winter. I will dress only to eat at the in-house Pizza East, take boxing classes in the gym's full-sized fighting ring, or have my antlers filed in the Cowshed spa while watching one of the cute retro Fifties TVs. I will brave the cold only for supper at the utterly glorious, serious-about-beer restaurant The Publican. Up on the rooftop is the hotel's 60-foot-long pool flaunting superb Chicago-skyline views.

Obviously, I've spent a thousand high days, holidays and raucous hooplas within the environs of 'Nick Jones Inc' too. Jones is the bon-vivant entrepreneur behind the group, and my end-of-year accounts suggest I may be putting his children through school via my weekly commitment to Pinotage and plates of spianata calabra alone. Yet it's the solitary, recuperating times at Little House in Mayfair or High Road House in Chiswick that I remember most vividly. Travellers quack about the impersonal nature of brands and chains, but for me this is hogwash.

For 20+ years we've scoured the earth, evaluating hotels that meet every taste and budget, creating a hand-picked selection that's proven and inspired. In fact, our painstaking curation led to Michelin making us the official hotel selection of their legendary MICHELIN Guide. The MICHELIN Guide had always been a benchmark in gastronomy. My first Chicago lesson was not to waste a good stomach rumble on that touristy pizza stodge. The hotel is a six-storey converted belt warehouse in the West Loop foodie nirvana, among buzz-joints such as Girl & the Goat, Au Cheval, Next and Aviary.

Dining

Occupying a former belt factory in the West Loop, this private members club's hotel feels like a bohemian artist's loft. Artists, architects, and musicians lounge in the chandelier-decked lobby, which slings cold-pressed juices by day and craft cocktails at night. The contemporary-art collection, featuring pieces by the likes of Damien Hirst, is a draw for art lovers, while foodies appreciate the proximity to Randolph Street restaurants.

Handsome hotel rooms, which are clubby but not cloying, are open to the public. Hotel guests also get access to three on-site restaurants, bar, spa, gym and rooftop pool. In each of the Big rooms is a free-standing tub and walk-in rainforest shower, while all other rooms have a shower only (which is the size of a large closet). Grey tiles on the floor and walls are a nice shift from all-white baths. Toiletries are from Cowshed Spa, linked to all Soho House properties, including the Chicago hotel's spa.

For those properties, we provide real-time rates and availability via a partnership with Booking.com. All three dining venues open to non-members who are hotel guests offer drink menus. The Allis is where you'll find the most exquisite wines as well as craft cocktails with fun flavors, like "Turning Japanese" with its chamomile, lavender, spiced pear and whiskey. The West Loop is hopping and if you're a foodie who has to hit all the best spots then this is your place because everything is a quick walk.

"Top Chef" winner Stephanie Izard's Girl & The Goat (literally around the corner) hasn't slipped out of style since its 2010 opening; on the dinner menu are a mix of raw bar, pig and pork items. Across the street is Au Cheval, which many Chicagoans dub the city's best burger. Tip Enjoy the Chicago-skyline view with food and drink delivered poolside at the rooftop pool. Cowshed Spa is here, like at other Soho House properties, around the globe.

There are five treatment rooms plus six chairs dedicated to servicing manis and pedis. Non-members can add the privileges at checkout through our 30 day free trial, cancellable at anytime. You’ll also get access to member-only discounts and a dedicated team of travel experts ready to provide personalized assistance along every step of your journey. Every booking you make at a Plus Program hotel will be packed with privileges that pay for themselves in as little as one stay.

Outdoor fireplaces and beach-house-type furnishings make this feel more like California than Chi-Town. One nice advantage to checking into a hotel not in downtown Chicago is that there's more square footage in the hotel's footprint. This includes the lobby, where the decor evokes the 1920s and 1930s with exposed-brick walls, plush tufted-back armchair and sofas, an open concept and crystal chandeliers overhead. There's not a single piece of furniture that doesn't look like it came from that time period, too, but that hasn't gotten in the way of folks working on their laptops for hours here. We're always trying to bring you more amazing hotels, more quickly. But not every hotel can immediately connect their reservation system with ours.

Premium Culinary Offerings at Remy on Disney Cruise Line Expanded

remy disney cruise

The soft textures of the beef and ratatouille are offset by the Parmesan crisps, while the basil coulis and aged balsamic each provide contrasting nuances of herbaceous freshness and sweetness. The menu is divided in half with two tasting menus (with a la carte options as well so you can easily mix and match). The Saveur menu (meaning “flavor” in French) is created by Lallement, while the Goût menu (meaning “taste”) is created by Hunnel. Both are exquisite options, and while my sister opted to stick to the Goût side of the menu, I tried a little bit of each. The problem, in a manner of speaking, is that the dishes at Remy, much like those at Victoria & Albert’s, are in a class of their own.

Remy: Fine French Dining on Disney Cruise Line

Outside on the pool deck of Disney Magic, Duck-In Diner dishes out lunch and snacks to hungry cruisers. The menu here is a fun mix of American favorites like burgers and dogs, plus Middle Eastern-inspired shawarma wrapped in a warm pita. I love the shawarma because you can see it rotating on a vertical spit right behind the counter and load up your sandwich with your favorite toppings. Near Disney Wish's main pool is Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods. This outdoor open-air concept is made up of five smaller quick-service windows dishing out barbecue, pizza, burgers, tacos and ice cream.

My main complaint about the dishes in the rotational restaurants are that the potatoes are always phoned in. If Bob Ross has happy little trees, I’ll take happy little potatoes. Our next course was when the two menus diverged rather significantly. The French menu presented what I like to call “a tribute to all foods but especially beets”.

Replies to “Disney Dream Remy Dinner Review”

You can’t bring your kids to Remy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go. Disney has fantastic kids’ clubs where you can leave your youngsters for while you enjoy an adult dining experience. If your kids are age three or older (and potty trained), you can leave them at the Oceaneer Club or Lab, Edge, or Vibe with no reservation and no charge.

The meal starts with your hosts, Ant-Man and the Wasp, explaining what the interactive quantum core on your table is for. Then, throughout the meal, you'll work with Marvel superheroes to save the ship from an impending villain. Breakfast here is fairly basic but more relaxing than hitting the buffet line. The three-course lunch menu is a nice alternative if you're looking for a table-service lunch.

Before you even get to Preludes, you will smell the freshly popped popcorn, which can be served in a souvenir popcorn bucket. If you bring your bucket back to Preludes, you can enjoy discounted popcorn refills throughout your cruise. Buckets that are brought on board from other cruises or from a Disney Park are not available for refills at the discounted price. The buffet has both inside and outside seating, so on warm sea days, take your plate outside to enjoy the view of the ship's wake. If your kids love tea parties and Disney princesses, you might want to book one of the Royal Court Royal Tea experiences on a Disney cruise.

The $135 dinner on Disney Cruise Line isn't cheap, but the fancy food sold me on it being worth it

Disney Wish's 1923 is one of the best rotational dining options across Disney Cruise Line. The restaurant is named after the year that The Walt Disney Company was founded and celebrates animation through glass-encased shadow boxes of sketches and maquettes of Disney characters. Disney Cruise Line's signature rotational dining restaurant is Animator's Palate, which can be found on the four oldest Disney ships. On Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the restaurant is covered in black-and-white sketches of popular Disney and Pixar characters.

My favorite is Donald's Cantina, which is a make-your-own Tex-Mex spot with plenty of base, protein and topping options, along with a nearby salsa and hot sauce bar. The dinner menu is similar to that of Palo on the other Disney ships, with a prix-fixe dinner starting at $50 and an a la carte option. The a la carte menu emphasizes steaks, with American prime cuts, Australian wagyu and Japanese Kobe and Miyazaki beef you can pair with one of five sauces. If you ask, you can also get a sauce flight to try all of the options with your steak. Brunch starts with a glass of prosecco or a mimosa, then your choice of antipasti plates. I suggest taking a few people with you to brunch so you can try a few of the dishes on the menu, though one not to miss is the chicken Parmesan that's served with risotto.

One of my favorite parts of my recent trip on the Disney Dream was brunch at the fine dining restaurant Remy, inspired by the movie Ratatouille. We enjoyed a prix fixe menu developed by Chef Scott Hunnel (from Victoria & Alberts at WDW Grand Floridian) and 3 Michelin starred Chef Arnauld Lallement (from l’Assiette Champenoise hotel in France). The Truffle Collection can be enjoyed from November through February aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, as you join the chefs from Remy in celebration truffle season. The premium menu was inspired by the Alba and black Perigord truffles. This is all followed by a selection of distinguished cheeses and a sweet indulgence, to top everything off of course!

This is the first time a Disney restaurant has been awarded this high honor. However, Capa Steakhouse at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando — located on Walt Disney World property — also has a Michelin Star. Most drinks are included with your overall Disney cruise cost. These include drip coffee, juice, soda from soda machines, tap water, milk, tea and lemonade. The exceptions are alcoholic drinks, canned sodas from bars, bottled water and smoothies, which are purchased individually and charged to your folio.

We also did this experience on the Disney Fantasy in 2022. I obviously took pictures during the Dessert Experience and I saw several other guests doing this as well. Don’t use your flash and don’t keep your phone or camera on the table while you’re actually dining. Some guests enjoy fancy dress and choose to get gussied up to dine at Remy, but this is not required. You’ll find that more people get fancified at dinner than at brunch or the Dessert Experience. Normally, the servers try to encourage each guest to order from different sides of the chef’s menus or offer a create-your-own a la carte menu.

Normally, I do not fall for bread service trap, but this bread was something special and it would have been a crime not to get a second slice. At the time of our cruise, the Disney Fantasy just started serving bread which was born in France. My sister’s entrée from the Goût side of the menu is onion ash and black Hawaiian salt dusted lamb medallions, asparagus, marble potatoes, and pickled onions.

The golden bread plate is the perfect for the new bread being served at Remy. A non-alcoholic alternative to the Collette is available – appropriately named, the Linguini. We have not tried it, but a few people we know have and they’ve told us they enjoyed it. Click here for a review from Remy and videos of Q&A with the chefs.

Then there’s the 1961 Château Latour that Chef Skinner offers Linguini to try to learn the secrets behind his cooking skills. Nice pants and a button-up shirt or even a suit will suffice for men. When it comes to choosing what to wear to Remy, guests should tend towards the more formal wear. For example, if it is something you would wear as a guest to a formal wedding, then it should be good to wear to Remy.

Remy is most upscale dining venue on the Dream and Fantasy; the restaurants are very similar on both ships. The photos in this post are of the Dream, but the Fantasy is substantially the same. Specific times and schedules may vary, so always check in your cruise schedule or app to see the exact times. My main course for the evening was a delicious Kobe style beef with an enjoyable smoked garlic potatoes. The chicken dish was not just your normal everyday chicken, it is Poularde chicken which is defined as a young hen at least 120 days old that has never laid and egg. The dish was accompanied by artichoke and a chicken sauce.

She’s treating us to a review of the ultra-posh Remy — a Disney Cruise Line fine-dining restaurant. Obviously, this comparison is hyperbolic and merely to illustrate my point. The point is that using chefs who have earned Michelin stars elsewhere to craft menus is a popular marketing tool. The monetary cost plus the opportunity cost of dining here over the “free” meals is pretty steep, but Remy is so, so good. It’ll have you tasting flavors you never even knew existed; it’s like your sense of taste is heightened.

Things I've done that I'll never do again on a Carnival cruise

cruise fun

Evening shows typically run twice a night, with a rotating lineup during the cruise so that you have something different each day of your cruise. In the evenings you’ll find live music being played at locations around the ship. In our experience the films are family-friendly, with them often being one of the newest superhero films.

VACATION WITH THE FAMILY

A notable example is Disney Cruise Line’s island, Castaway Cay – a paradise for both kids and parents. This blend of variety and convenience makes cruising an ideal choice for a vacation that’s both enjoyable and educational. You’ll be hard-pressed to ever feel bored during a Royal Caribbean family cruise. The cruise lines and recommended ships that follow are our top picks for family cruises.

Unlike traditional travel, where constant transit can be a hassle, cruising allows you to experience a variety of places effortlessly and choose your itinerary and activities. Well, I didn’t realize that Carnival's cruise ships dock at a slightly different spot than Royal Caribbean, which is what I was most familiar with. As we walked off the ship, I used my phone to enter the address of the resort. On both of my Carnival cruises this year, we visited Cozumel, Mexico during our Caribbean sailings.

Carnival Cruise Line: “The Fun Ships”

Breakaway and Getaway feature five multistory waterslides, as well as The Plank, an eight-foot walk (part of the ropes course) that extends off the edge of the ship and out over the sea. The Reef, the main kids' club, is divided into rooms for each age group with brightly adorned spaces filled with fun activities and age-appropriate toys. Onboard restaurants successfully keep kids entertained while allowing parents to enjoy the meal, as well. In short, Disney family cruises are excellent choices for families and leave little room for boredom for everyone. The Royal Tots and Royal Babies programs provide interactive classes and activities (when children are accompanied by a parent) for children from 6 months to 36 months old. Drop-off babysitting services and toddler-friendly play spaces are also available.

For foodies who cannot soak in enough ocean views, there is the Waterfront, a quarter-mile oceanfront deck filled with restaurants, bars, and seating areas. The ship is part of what MSC Cruises has dubbed the "Seaside EVO" subclass. While MSC Seascape is technically part of the same class of ships as MSC Seaside and Seaview, the cruise line claims that 65% of the public areas were reimagnined onboard the two newer ships. Mariner of the Seas' $120 million Royal Amplification was completed in 2019. While she's a little smaller than the newer Freedom Class ships (about 139,000 gross tons compared to Freedom of the Seas' 154,407), many onboard amenities are the same.

Best NCL Ships for Kids

I admit, I've never done this, though I know I should — if only to wipe off the remote control for the cabin TV. Many cruises depart in the afternoon, so it might seem just fine to fly or drive to a port on the morning of departure. But all it takes is a moderate flight delay or a pile-up on the highway to upset those plans. If you're delayed in your arrival at the port, the ship will not wait for you. If you only follow one piece of advice in this story, it should be this one.

Get The Ultimate Cruise Planner

If you’re looking for the most fun cruise to plan this year, there are some truly amazing cruise ships to choose from. Top cruise lines have built some of the coolest features and fun attractions on their newest cruise ships. There’s no better way to relax than by some time in the hot tub. While there are usually multiple whirlpools around the main pool, other hot tubs are found around the ship, including adults-only areas. So while a ship might have a couple of pools, it could have 8-10 hot tubs.

FAMILY LIBRARY

With an emphasis on style, luxury, and diverse entertainment, MSC brings European elegance to the fun cruise realm. Each of our ships is a unique experience — check the features and find out which ship is right for you. A little spontaneity goes a long way in most facets of life, but when it comes to travel, the biggest rewards are typically reserved for those who take their cruise planning seriously. Chances are, the ports you will be visiting are brand new to you—and the single day you have in port may be the one and only chance you’ll ever get to explore them. Accordingly, it’s well worth your while to begin reading up on the itinerary’s destinations long before you step foot on the ship. Don’t risk cutting it close, especially if you have long or connecting flights or the potential of winter weather that might cause hiccups with your transit plans.

Mariner of the Seas

Excellent Broadway-style shows in the evenings will keep the older crowd engaged, while parades and ice skating shows will "wow" the whole family. Anthem of the Seas has a more sophisticated vibe, but many of its attractions are great for families. Meet Kathy Ava, a food, travel, and cruise writer based in Los Angeles/Pasadena, and the owner and main writer of Tasty Itinerary. With over 20 years of experience planning trips and logistics at her full-time job and for herself, she's become a pro at crafting unforgettable tasty itineraries. She's always on the hunt for delicious, fun travel destinations and cruise itineraries. She firmly believes that life is short and we must make the most of it, so always say yes to dessert.

cruise fun

Unfortunately not every day on a cruise will be sunshine and blue skies. However there’s still so much to do on rainy days on a cruise. Sit out on your private balcony or head to the top deck to enjoy the most spectacular view of the stars. Order room service and enjoy a cup of coffee and some breakfast, while enjoying your own private balcony in the morning. While continental room service is often free on a cruise, you may want to splurge for an extra special romantic experience.

I am confident in a few things that I will never do again onboard one of Carnival’s ships. No matter which MSC cruise ship you choose -- from MSC Armonia to MSC Seaside -- kids will have a full slate of things to keep them busy thanks to modern, fun spaces for all age groups. Select Princess shore excursions are Discovery Family Tours, which are targeted at families with kids ages 3 to 12 and involve hands-on activities that connect kids to the destination. Animal Planet tours are ideal for parents and kids who want to see whales, sharks, sloths and other critters up close. Activities might range from Caribbean-shark-themed scavenger hunts to hands-on "Mythbusters"-style challenges and learning the science of magic. Other kid-approved activities include video game tournaments, art projects and storytime.

Imagine spending your sea days immersed in a vibrant atmosphere, surrounded by pool games, live music, and the joyous laughter of fellow passengers. These pool areas become the heart of the ship’s social scene during the day, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and fun under the sun. In the main dining room, the menu is a revolving door of tantalizing options, offering you the chance to embark on an unlimited exploration of flavors and dishes. For those looking to elevate their dining experience further, many cruise ships boast various specialty restaurants. It’s about the journey itself, including stops at various cruise ports. Some cruise lines even boast their exclusive islands, offering unique experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

Disney Cruise Line has done a lot more to accommodate tweens and teens -- but its ships offer the best cruise for small kids, hands down. We prefer the line's biggest ships, Disney Wish, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, but the refurbished Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are great choices for Disney family cruises, as well. Royal Caribbean offers affordable family cruises, with a Royal Caribbean kids sail free program and other discounts on third and fourth passengers appearing occasionally throughout the year. While some people prefer freestyle cruising, some cruisers still enjoy getting all dressed up and enjoying a more sophisticated evening. I hope this was helpful if you’re thinking of planning a cruise, to give you an idea what to expect.

Fast forward to today, and the ‘fun cruise’ has become a universe unto itself. Ships are like floating cities, boasting of activities ranging from Broadway-style shows to robot bartenders. Some cruisers even like to stay back during at least one scheduled port call. When the ship empties out as guests go on excursions, you’ll be free to enjoy the onboard facilities sans the crowds. Racking up a whole lot of stress is no way to start off a vacation, and anybody who’s ever nearly missed a bus, plane, train, or boat knows that type of anxiety doesn’t feel very good. But you can take your cruise to the next level by integrating these expert cruise tips, from the practical to the aspirational.

It’s relaxing to sit down, have a drink, and just watch as everyone on the ship eventually passes by. While there is no shortage of things to do, don’t think you have to go 100 miles per hour the entire cruise. Think that the entertainment on the cruise ship is going to all be PG-rated? Most is, but the comedians that perform during the trip can get a little dirtier… and a lot funnier.
